Factors that may influence your tiling quote:
Size and restrictions of the Tiling area - The size of the working area to be tiled is clearly going to affect costs - more area, more tiles, more cost. Additionally, if the surface requires signification preparation or if the area is uneven or somewhat restricted, this too will add to the overall cost of your project.
Design and Style - Plain tiles will be less difficult to fit than intricately designed tiles. For example, mosaic tiles are fiddly or a herringbone layout is also more labour-intensive. The longer the time to fit, the more expensive your project. If you are using an especially costly tile, expect your tiler to spend more time treating them cautiously to avoid breakages.
Other tiling costs to consider:
Materials (such as grouting + adhesives) – before your project starts, your tiler will request grout, adhesives, and any trim required for the job to be purchased and made available on the day.
Wall preperation (plastering) – Any unfinished surfaces will delay your project. Surfaces should be prepared and ready for tiles before your tiler arrives onsite - unless otherwise stated.
Removing old tiles – if you have existing tiles in place, you will need to factor into your budget their removal, including old adhesive and grout.
Underfloor heating – tiling on top of underfloor heating requires the correct flexible adhesives and grouts, so be prepared to pay more if you ask your tiler to do so.
